This position will provide SLP services to an elementary school in Tukwila (K-5th grade).

We are excited to invite a passionate and innovative full-time Speech and Language Therapist (SLP) to join our dynamic multidisciplinary team at our K-5 school. As a valued member of our community, you'll utilize evidence-based practices and data-driven interventions to support students with Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and those receiving MTSS support. You'll have the opportunity to be creative while collaborating with teachers and staff to deliver an enriched language program that embraces the cultural and linguistic diversity of our students. This role offers the flexibility of in-person services with options for virtual documentation days, all within a traditional school schedule that includes time off during breaks and additional Paid-Time-Off throughout the year. With a strong transdisciplinary approach, you’ll work closely with fellow SLPs, OTs, and School Psychologists, providing essential special education services, MTSS, and pre-referral support. Responsibilities

  • Provide speech and language services (language, fluency, articulation and pragmatics) to identified students.Foster strong therapeutic relationships with students that support engagement at school and in progress towards individualized goals
  • Provide speech and language therapy screenings and assessments to identify students with service needs
  • As an SLP-CCC, you will have an SLPA working alongside, and together have a caseload of no more than 40 students. For SLP-CFY, the caseload will be around 30 students
  • Perform all duties related to the development and management of student IEPs such as assessment, monitoring present levels of performance, goal setting, implementation of classroom accommodations and modifications, and progress reporting and updates
  • Work with assigned students to develop their speech sounds, language, social communication, voice, fluency, cognitive communication, feeding and swallowing, and/or to meet other individualized goals
  • Provide SLP related consultation and training for teachers and other school staff on strategies to support student goal attainment or school engagement
  • Assist in providing in-service training to parents, teachers, administrators and other professionals and paraprofessionals regarding speech and language topics
  • Assist in coordinating, communicating, and seeking consultation with community agencies as appropriate
  • Travel to school sites to provide services, as needed
  • Provide effective supervision of students at all times to maintain safety
  • Utilize crisis communication and de-escalation techniques as per Seneca's crisis response training. This may include intervening with the clients' behavioral program through physical management of the clients, if applicable. Training in additional crisis intervention modalities may
    be required
  • Contribute to a strong school culture by participating in or leading small group, classroom or school-wide activities for students that celebrate success and promote joy
  • Communicate effectively with families and all others involved in the daily life of the student, including other Seneca programs or outside agencies
  • Complete required data collection and service documentation for plan development and to measure the effectiveness of services, inform team decision making, and/or engage in service billing

Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Speech Pathology or related field required (CFY candidates welcome to apply)
  • Washington Educational Staff Associate (ESA) for public schools (Can obtain after hire)
  • Washington State License DOH license (SLP license)
  • ASHA Certification of Clinical Competence preferred
  • Valid driver's license and insurability through Seneca's automobile policy
  • Fulfillment of TB test, fingerprinting and state clearance, and any other mandatory state/federal requirements
  • Proof of COVID-19 vaccination

Schedule

  • Full-time 
    • Monday – Friday, 8:00 am - 4:00 pm (school hours) 
  • On-site at school 4 days per week with one dedicated documentation/planning day per week with some flexibility in work location 
  • Ability to create and manage therapy schedule within school hours 
  • Follows a school year calendar with paid school breaks
