About Us:
At The Stepping Stones Group, our Charter Division is on a mission to change the world, one student at a time-and we need YOU to help make sure their voices are heard (literally and figuratively!). If you're a Speech-Language Pathologist who thrives in a creative, high-energy environment and loves helping kids unlock their communication superpowers, then keep reading! You'll have the chance to make speech therapy exciting and impactful, all while working in a charter school where innovation is the name of the game.
Your Mission, Should You Choose to Accept It:
- Speech Superhero Assessments: You'll be our first line of defense in evaluating students' speech and language skills. Using your superhero powers of observation, you'll conduct assessments, spot communication issues, and begin crafting personalized speech plans.
- IEPs: Your Blueprint for Success: Every student is unique, and so are their needs. Collaborate with our amazing team to create and implement personalized IEPs. Your recommendations will help students build essential speech and language skills that will last a lifetime.
- Therapy, the Fun Way: Forget boring worksheets! You'll use creative, evidence-based methods to work your speech magic-whether that's through games, interactive activities, or even tech tools like AAC devices. Group or one-on-one, you'll be the speech guide on this wild ride.
- Tracking Progress, Like a Pro: We don't just help students, we celebrate their success! You'll track progress, report back to parents, and even get to do that victory dance when students hit their speech milestones (we won't judge).
- Collaboration Nation: In a charter school, teamwork makes the dream work! You'll join forces with teachers, parents, and the entire school community to create an environment where every child can thrive. You'll also provide strategies that teachers can use to support students in the classroom-teamwork at its finest.
- Keep Learning, Keep Growing: You'll be surrounded by like-minded professionals and have opportunities for continuing education and professional development. After all, in this field, there's always something new to learn!
Qualifications: The Essentials
- Education: You have a Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited program (You're a Speech Wizard, basically).
- Licensing: You're licensed as a Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) in IL. Bonus points for the Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP), but if not, we can help you work toward it!
- Certification: Professional Educators License (PEL) from ISBE.
- Experience: Previous experience in a school setting or with kids is great! If you've worked in a charter school, even better, but we're always excited to welcome fresh talent.
- Skills:
- Knowledge of developmental speech and language disorders-you're the Sherlock Holmes of speech.
- Ability to create fun, engaging therapy plans that students will actually look forward to.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills (You've got the gift of gab and the patience of a saint).
- Organizational ninja who can track student progress and stay on top of documentation (Without breaking a sweat).
