The presenter gave examples throughout the course (ex. what a Tier 1, 2 and 3 word would be) and examples of explicit instruction for teaching vocabulary. The story sample (Gecko Living with a Possum Family) and activity find the Tier 2 words was a good exercise.

It was very interesting to learn how vocabulary impacts literacy and therefore is so important to teach our children. I also enjoyed learning the best way find and teach vocabulary words. Using children storybooks to find tier 2 words makes perfect sense! I also appreciated learning how important it is to get the student involved in teaching the words by drawing a picture of the word, creating sentences with the word, and answering questions about the word in sentences. Thanks for the visuals a

The instructor presented the material very well. After this course, I feel more confident in how to plan for vocabulary instruction and implement better practices into my lessons. The studies and methods discussed in this course were taught to me in graduate school, and it was beneficial to have a refresher of the material. However, I also learned more effective ways to teach. I enjoyed that the presenter provided examples on how she would conduct a portion of a vocabulary lesson.
