I loved that she defined all of the aspects of healthy aging on swallow, but also helped clarify that we need to consider whether these changes are effecting safety, efficiency, or the overall health of the patient.

loved the subject but do not feel confident in identifying presbyphagia on MBSS -- sounds like despite swallowing differences it is only considered dysphagia if the difference results in something that would be obvious dysphagia on a MBSS (e.g. residue that does not clear) or something we wouldn't see on an MBSS when we looked at this difference as it related to the bigger picture?

I am retired and went to school before swallowing was a part of the curriculum. I spent my career in elementary school and preschools and never learned swallowing treatments, so this was all quite unfamiliar to me. I think for someone who was in the profession, this would be in the excellent category because it would be quite applicable to their work.

This course was excellent because it detailed information related to the aging swallow. This is very relevant to me because I'm an SLP in the SNFs. The majority of my caseload relates to the the aging swallow or to dysphagia. It's great to stay abreast to new information and apply what is learned to the patients on my caseload, immediately.

This professor packed a lot of fantastic, up-to-date measurements for normal aging swallow function into two hours! I learned so much. I have never, in 27 years of practice, had a class on "normal aging swallow function." As I write this, I realize how often I have wished I knew "normal swallow function better." Also, when I have searched for this information, I have found very little information. I feel better equipped to evaluate at a whole level better than I did before this course.
