Wonderful, helpful information. I did not receive training on spelling assessments in graduate school, and frequently run into it in the private clinic setting with pediatric clients. So helpful.

It taught me to consider the phonological, morphological, orthographic, semantic and etymological influences on spelling. It also gave me permission to explore these aspects with children. Lastly, it encouraged me to expose stuents to these 5 pieces which influence word awareness and spelling.

This presentation gave great examples and I loved having multiple presenters - this kept it very interesting and engaging. My one lingering question is -- How do we know that this ALL falls within the SLP's scope of practice? I do believe that phonemic errors are within our scope, but I'm still not convinced that we are the correct team member to target orthography.

As a school-based speech-language pathologist, I found the information presented in this course relevant and applicable. This deeper dive is what sets us apart from a "regular" classroom. I feel as if this course has helped solidify some of the strategies or concepts I would like to present to my students. The way the types of errors were explained and divided was very useful. In addition, I loved the sample goals and will be revising my current goals to include the terminology provided.
