This course was helpful to me as professional in the school setting but also as a sister coping with a terminally ill family member. You cited a framework in the latter situation that I was unable to understand at the beginning of our hospital journey. I was grateful for this collaboration in both situations.

As it stated, this is an introductory course. I would want to go back and look at case studies or be in the audience of a panel discussion or round table once I spend more time working specifically with a social worker which is not something I do in my practice in my school setting. Hearing this speaker talk about how she works closely and collaboratively with SLPs makes me think I need to open my 'doors' more to that to be more effective in my intervention.

I found this course to be very helpful in understanding how I can better collaborate with our school social worker that I closely work with in my school. When meeting the communication and emotional needs of teens at the middle school level, this course gave me insight into ideas for lesson planning related to social pragmatics and emotional intelligence. I also found the discussion of how SLPs and SWs can work in tandem for those teens with swallowing difficulties related to anxiety.
