Handouts will be used to explain to others that speech therapy is not just sitting in a room with the kid. Doesn't work so well with generalization. I am now in a situation where I am trying to change the thinking that students should be pulled out into a therapy room in order to make progress.

I really like this presenter and have taken a course with her prior. I particularly liked the approach at the H.S. level and addressing those in need that are not on caseload or identified as special needs but have been identified with executive functioning weaknesses. I think the collaborative method is a very successful one since you want to make sure the student is able to be successful across all contexts. I also liked the concept of the Academic Success Center. Excellent presentation.

The course was well organized and presenter provided good references. It was interesting to consider re-packaging the skills we often work with in a different way. The only reason I'm not sure to what degree this will impact my own work is because of time constraints and a lack of 100% collaborative opportunities. We do well collaborating with students in special ed classrooms, it's the ones in gen ed who really need this support.

There are usable handouts to assist with collaboration/team-building/team education re: the SLP’s role in EF. I feel so much more empowered to introduce these concepts with confidence and a unique skill set. (There seem to be some typos in the slide presentation i.e., Dr. Walker vs. Dr. Brown and maybe a “filler line” in the slide with the white board).

EF skills coupled with anxiety is complex. One tends to lead to the other. I like the idea of having the student go back and re-evaluate the outcome of his/her outcome on his activity and discussing the implement of a new strategy he/she has helped to develop.

Throughout my career I have worked in the high school setting. I could especially relate to the student i.e. Hunter. The instructor is obviously very intelligent and experienced. Her grammar errors do distract from what I would expect from an SLP of her caliber. They are present in other of her presentations I have heard. “Him and I …” or “Me, the ___, and the ____ …” are easy fixes and would allow her to sound as intelligent as I believe she truly is.
