She used the law and confirmed my understanding in what I already knew by using the actual IDEA laws by number! Thank you for the documentation. I no longer work in an environment that uses IEPs, but it will help me sleep at night from the times that I did work with IEPs and tried to tell others in that environment what the law was and they didn't believe me. Thank you. You couldn't be more clear in your discussion.

Angie Neal presents information that is research-based and significant in determining a better determination of speech therapy needs for students being considered for eligibility. SLPs will need to educate their administration and teachers concerning these eligibility requirements and work towards a case load that represents those students who truly qualify for intervention.

As a therapist we often face questions regarding caseloads, reasons why or why not clients are on our caseload. It makes for a robust discussion among your therapy team as we want to help but at times our hand are tied. I like the fact that there were clear cut guidelines when it comes to caseloads. There is also support for the therapist who have clients who are not eligible.
