Very engaging presenter. The examples for each concept were salient and easy to apply to my own population (including grandchildren! Her enthusiasm for the rapid development of knowledge in neuroscience facilitated the presentation and made it flow smoothly. I REALLY appreciated that she was an OT... it allowed me to sit back and reflect for myself how this all applies to me in my role as an SLP and a TOD.

I work as a Speech-Language Pathologist at a Junior High and High School and I see these students changing and growing constantly. I enjoyed the references (books) and information provided on how to really engage with the students and find out what they are passionate about. I enjoy working with teenagers because they need someone "on their side." I tend to let them talk when they feel they can open up - even when they are upset with a parent/peer/teacher because that is when they need an ear.

I think it's a reminder that many of the characteristics people often see a "negative" about teenagers are actually reaction to structural and physiological changes in the brain and can be largely alleviated by changing our therapeutic approach.

statReinforced things I've previously learned, but with updated info. Plus, reminded me of a few things I "may" have forgotten. One "challenge" was the second questions on the exam, asking which were myths. I struggled with deciding if myth = false, or were all the things listed considered myths, whether true or false. (am I making sense)
