This course was thorough and well done. I have practiced in early childhood for 21 years so I was privy to much of the information, but I loved the way she explained the information and have used her verbal descriptions when speaking with my college students. This CEU has helped me to explain what in intrinsically know.

This course specified the stages of play development and literacy development while drawing the connection to what we do to address receptive and expressive language skills. Additionally, the presenter added a piece not usually discussed-executive functioning and how it relates to language skills and what we do as SLPs.

I LOVED this 4-part course!!! It was so well organized and everything Ms. Audet had planned was covered! I wish we could collaborate! I Love to use Play therapy and I loved learning about FM, GM, Cognitive and Social Aspects of Play and How they all truly "align" and work together. I will definitely do more Observation and Assessment with my therapy kiddos and when I do Initial Speech Evaluations! I will Share with my fellow providers! Thank You! Thank You! Thank You!

This courase reminded me about elements of child development that I had forgotten. I understood a child with gross motor development in relationship to speech and language development. The speaker did a wonderful outlining the theories and child development to providing speech therapy to child with varying delays. She was creative to meet the individual needs of the child/student/adult in a respectful and playful manner. The examples were relevant.

The course covered an important topic that wasn't addressed in my graduate coursework. It was helpful to see how play relates to the development of many skills, including literacy ones, that I hadn't previously considered in depth. It was fascinating to unpack how language development is tied to a child's stage of play.

She clearly explained how play, motor, social and language skills are not islands but work together. As an SLP I particularly was fascinated by how she related working on play to build language skills. It was eye opening to see have play mirrors story telling and discourse. That is definitely a new way I can use play in my therapy with my young preschool, kinder and first grade students.

Providing real-life examples and strategies, discussing the importance of the distal point, discussing the importance of play observation (use of objects) and how it relates to MLU, the importance of schemas and onlooker play, including our gestalt language learners, the idea of "Stop. Think. Make a Plan", the idea of "let your child have a child-sized problem" and explaining the correlation of play stages and narrative development stages.
