Wow. You know how of the 500 times you've heard something in the 28 years you've been a therapist, someone comes along and says it just a little differently and the huge pieces fit better together? That's how I felt with this course. I know all the "things" that were said. BUT it was refreshing to hear from patient standpoint on really how to best help prioritize at varying levels of care. Truly - great job organizing this course and fantastic job of the speakers.

resources, personal testimony and info. great practical information! i'm a well seasoned slp and it was very interestingMy greatest concern though is that pts are being d/c'd from acute /rehab settings too fast now ..always frustrated that inpt stay is based on PT not ST.Scary sending home aphasic pt alone who cant read meds , call for help etc...i had one who drove and couldnt figure out reading gas machine or credit card etc...so unfair not to keep pt who is aphasic but can walk

It was very helpful to hear the perspectives of our patients and learn what was most helpful for them. The course reinforced the things that are important beyond just the basics of how to do aphasia therapy that we learned in grad school but rather how to be a better therapist, how to connect with the patient beyond tests, exercises and worksheets. Very positive and uplifting course, I loved it.

The sharing of the experiences of stroke patients made this class so powerful! I am an SLP who has not worked as an SLP for the last 25 years, but as a homeschool mom I am now caring for my mom 24/7 who suffered a massive right intracranial bleed. After surgery to save her life, she did eventually make progress, but with the onset of grand-mal seizures, she lost much ground. This class gave me hope to start trying to help her communicate again!
