No mention of a partial glossectomy used as a treatment option for OSA. The surgical treatment outlined in course listed an implantable devise attached to the hypoglossal nerve (hypoglossal nerve stimulation).

I am concerned about the discussion of pharyngeal strengthening exercises to improve "tone". The neural mechanisms responsible for tone during sleep appear influence the anatomical airway collapse. Does exercise in fact, improve tone? Thank you for this discussion.

I took this course because of my interest in the subject. I was diagnosed with OSA 15 years ago and use a CPAP at night. I was diagnosed with reflux over 40 years ago and have taken medications off and on to treat it. The subject is very concerning to me personally. The content of this course will definitely be a good resource for me as I age so that I can be proactive in the event that I begin to develop symptoms of dysphagia and/or chronic pneumonias. Interesting information in this course.

The presenter mentioned multiple research sources to further reiterate her topic and study that she had performed. I also felt that this course helped me to consider the role of OSA when treating patients for dysphagia (or at least screening them for dysphagia).
