I am retired, but very interested in keeping educated about MCI and dementia, and other topics related to aging. This presentation continuation did a deep dive into very specific ways to assess persons referred or self reporting for cognitive issues, biological evidence corresponding to results of testing / reporting, and hope for therapy to effect change.

A little too "meaty" for me. My work background is largely pediatric and I took this course out of general interest. The exam was heavily skewed to specific fact memorization rather than asking for demonstration of general principles. I was actually appalled at how poorly I did on the first round. Review of the hand-out helped.

The information was interesting. But, two of the exam questions were not addressed in the content. This resulted in me having to spend a lot of time searching and then finally guessing the answers. That is not helpful learning. It seems as though more diagnostic info in the exam would be more functional as a learning outcome.

I really enjoyed the deep dive that this course entails. I would have liked it more if there was more emphasis on which assessments specifically can be completed by speech therapists and the kinds of deficits we are likely to see in 1 domain MCI vs multiple domain, again, specifically as it relates to speech and language.

I have enjoyed this presenter’s courses. This one incorporated slides of the cortex and where thinning occurred. I’ve learned how important it is to evaluate multiple domains and that deficits in frontal executive functioning and memory more than likely will lead to Alzheimer Disease. Highly recommend this course.

I feel this in depth information doesn’t capture “characteristics and treatment” way too much technical information. I will complete the courses because I have started them BUT…. These courses should have been labeled differently so far nothing applicable in clinical practice just my opinion…. Maybe I am stuck with all the technical jargon. I expected something different.

I was just diagnosed with MCI. It’s great to know what I need to do to nourish my brain. Also I was glad to hear that just because it runs in the family doesn’t mean that you will get Alzheimer’s. There are things you can do so MCI doesn’t progress into dementia or Alzheimer’s. My husband had a stroke and it was good to hear that walking will help his brain regenerate.

This was a VERY informative course! The correlation between the MRI studies, impairments in the brain & body, and behavioral components in the MCI patients, & the further development of AD was excellent and extremely helpful for diagnostic and treatment purposes. I was also very encouraged by the research for actual treatments designed to help the MTL repair & regrow tissue. Although I am a retired SLP, this is a very pertinent topic because of aging, and I plan to investigate it further.
