I thought it was really good information to work on conjunction words. We often use them in our sentences or when giving directions or explaining a consequence. It makes sense that the child may be confused because they are not understanding the language/terms. I also liked learning about the five essentials to focus on for vocabulary. This will be helpful when putting together goals and objectives.

I'm seeing this more and more and have been working on syntax in therapy more than I have in my career over the last 20 years. I am finding that many children have trouble with prepositions, articles, conjunctions, etc. and working on these words seems to have improved the quality of therapy I am providing. There is also a HUGE push right now in the schools regarding narratives, and this skill is essential when formulating narratives.

The course was excellent because it provided a clear and comprehensive exploration of the relationship between language and executive functioning. By emphasizing the role of syntax—particularly through the use of complex sentence structures and subordinating conjunctions—and incorporating effective strategies such as sentence combining and deconstruction, it reinforced my confidence in the therapy goals I have selected.
