It was evident, in the slides shown, that the presenter had done her research. I appreciated her explaining how studies were done, and her comments on the objective validity of the results (which, some studies presented, she explained were not completed with the most objective types of measures). If I were still working in a SNF, this information would help me in educating my patients and family members about hearing loss risk factors for dementia.

Very interesting topic! I was able to connect the lecture to my mom showing memory decline and hearing loss. She did not want to wear a hearing aid until recently when she found her social interaction difficult. I wish if I had learned the association between hearing loss and dementia earlier. I am curious to know if the use of hearing aids can prevent or delay dementia. I am looking forward to the study results coming in 2023. Great lecture!

Dr. Deal's reporting of various epidemiological studies along with her discussion and interpretation of the data was very thorough. She made the course content interesting and relatable. Learning that the association between hearing loss and dementia is stronger as the hearing loss increases was a valuable piece of information within this presentation. In addition Dr. Deal's comment that we don't know for sure if treating hearing loss with prevent or postpone dementia was interesting.
