This course was very well-organized. I appreciated the review of how to understand the data at the beginning of the course. It was a really good reminder of how to understand inconsistencies in data. It is also a valuable topic for so many of us, not only because of our caseloads but also because of our aging parents.

I enjoyed learning more about the association of dementia and hearing loss. The research that was presented was very interesting and eye opening to see the correlation and prevalence of dementia in older adults with hearing loss. The presenter also did a good job discussing other factors of hearing loss that may cause dementia like changes in brain structure and increased isolation. Overall this was an informative course.

It was evident, in the slides shown, that the presenter had done her research. I appreciated her explaining how studies were done, and her comments on the objective validity of the results (which, some studies presented, she explained were not completed with the most objective types of measures). If I were still working in a SNF, this information would help me in educating my patients and family members about hearing loss risk factors for dementia.

Very interesting topic! I was able to connect the lecture to my mom showing memory decline and hearing loss. She did not want to wear a hearing aid until recently when she found her social interaction difficult. I wish if I had learned the association between hearing loss and dementia earlier. I am curious to know if the use of hearing aids can prevent or delay dementia. I am looking forward to the study results coming in 2023. Great lecture!
