The parent perspectives were so valuable. I’m using this in teaching Counseling in SLP, as gradúate students get a realistic view of parents’ grief over time, what NOT to say and write, and how to put parents first in their hearts and minds as they work hard to help the child with communication disorders. Bravo!

This is such a valuable topic, particularly for clinicians to hear from professionals in our field who also have personal experience being the grieving parent. Having both perspectives at once is a unique and more complete perspective, and I am so grateful for the presenters combining their personal and professional experiences.

I too, am a parent of a child diagnosed with a "learning disability" with an ADD component. He is now 28 years-old. I am proud to say, he is also a college graduate! He is the reason I became an SLPA. I would ask questions--why--how? I was initially in denial, but I knew (as a single parent) I had to "take the bull by the horns." I asked a lot of questions. Faith, and my inner wisdom AND always believing! This lecture was so welcoming! It feels really good to know, I am not alone. ☺️

This presentation was eye opening. I often think about my client's parents each and every time I write an IEP in preparation for a meeting, and in the process, I am constantly searching for ways to bring out the positive aspects regarding their child as a whole as the child often has many areas of need. This presentation introduced even more positive ways in which I can actively support parents while I am working with their child and be in their shoes and feel their struggles. Thank you

The transparency of the presenters and their own personal backgrounds was valuable as well as sharing other examples of parents' discussions about grief. I am currently training in a new modality that addresses grief (outside of SLP) and this has been so eye opening in ways that this new modality can be valuable to not just patients, but parents, families, friends, etc. I love that this course is out there, and that this particular part of what we do is being acknowledged and educated about.
