Passing the scope in a (Flexible/Fiberoptic Endoscopic Evaluation of Swallowing) FEES is easy; interpreting what we see once the scope is in place carries the weight of the study and requires the skill of a trained SLP. This course describes the anatomy as seen during FEES. How anatomy should function during a normal swallow, the physiologic deficits seen on FEES, and how to document normal and abnormal findings are also discussed.

Erika is a graduate of Abilene Christian University in Abilene, TX. She specializes in medical speech pathology, primarily in swallowing and swallowing diagnostics. She is the owner of Texas Swallowing Diagnostics LLC, a mobile FEES company servicing Abilene, TX and the surrounding areas. She is also a full time instructor at Abilene Christian University teaching medical speech pathology courses to undergraduate and graduate students. Erika is a member of the Texas Speech and Hearing Association and ASHA.
