There was more emphasis on quoting citations and research then providing real life examples on how to navigate the ethical dilemmas of use of interpreters which is what "in the trenches" SLPs really need.

This was a high interest topic for me. I wish she would have had more information on her slides and her video on. Perhaps her video was having a problem when it was recorded. I think the information could have been presented in less time without the disclosure statements, acknowledgements, and brain breaks. The first two could have just been a slide she referred to if we wanted to go look.

Good information and definitions. Could relate to many topics as my caseload is comprised of approximately 60% EL learners and I often require the use of interpreters in meetings. There is a wide range of skills between interpreters, and I now provide the documents we will be reviewing with parents, so the interpreters have time to familiarize themselves with any terms or ask any questions they may have before the meetings.

No video & just audio makes it difficult to follow along. Also sounded like she was reading the entire presentation. Many unnatural pauses. Could have been completed in way less time because of so many strange pauses. No real info that wasn't just basic knowledge about interpreters. 30 minutes of Q/A at the end is way too long.

She seemed to be reading rather than discussing, did not appear ‘comfortable ‘ with the info, it seemed she was just sharing a research paper she’d done not something with which she was confident - she also used too many acronyms rather than the words to be sure we were all processing the same information.

I love that this course covers the ethics & culture requirements needed for ASHA. Unfortunately, the course had me checked out within the first 20 minutes. The instructor clearly knew her work as it was a part of her dissertation, however, this is a course for SLPs learning and a lot of times it felt like a presentation for a professor grading it. With no video I struggled to focus by only listening (I'm a multisensory learner), and at least 30 minutes of this course was question and answer.

The instructor had important information to share and demonstrated much knowledge on the topic. I did not appreciate the format of 'reading' her research paper. It was difficult to maintain attention throughout the presentation. In addition, having a photo as opposed to a video did not help to create a positive experience.

Wasn't the best course I've completed on here. I was hoping for more ethically driven research on when/how to use interpreters for the speech world. Also didn't like that we stared at a picture for over an hour, wasn't very personal, felt flat and boring. Especially when she just paused and had US READ her screen, I can do research that states the ASHA Ethics, I wanted to LEARN more.
