I am very excited to use these questions in future sessions with graduate students and clinical fellows! I feel like I have difficulty thinking of ways to lead conversations in coach-coachee relationships outside of speech therapy (such as in mentor-mentee relationships in my church setting), so this will be very helpful towards not only my clinical practice, but also my relationships outside of work, too.

As a recent graduate student, I found this course to be insightful as to how my graduate professors were trying to use more of a coaching approach. However, I think that supervisors need to remember not to treat grad students or clinical fellows like children. You need to be weary when talking to a student about how they are seeking out treatment for mental health.

Yes, great course overall with good perspective shifts. Only critique involves commentary about students not purchasing textbooks more in recent years - with changing research emerging all of the time, and the rising cost of textbooks, this comment struck a little odd. Otherwise wonderful.

She offered some helpful books to read. I thought she gave important advice about not giving advice but leading the student to self discovery. I do think it's important to encourage students to be their best selves. So I might say, "Great job!" But after this course, I might change that to, "What do you feel was your best moment during the service delivery?" If they say, "I felt terrible, what can I do to improve?" I could then say, "Let's review the data from the session."

It provides information that will allow for a relationship between the coach and coachee that will foster learning and respect at the same time. It provides a good way to conduct meetings so that the coachee gets information and insight that they need without feeling that they are being evaluated every meeting and it provides ways for the coach to provide pertinent information without hand holding.
