The information presented in this course was informative and reassuring that the interventions that I often use with my students coincide with research. Many of my students have been impacted by trauma of various kinds. The interventions discussed are some of the strategies that I use to help my students self-regulate. I also feel that creating a safe environment for my students and building a positive and trusting relationship with my parents is beneficial for all.

This subject matter needs more discussion in schools. Children cannot learn if they are constantly worried. We need to be light and love to help students with trauma overcome and to be successful.

This topic was personally very relevant to me, both as a clinician and as a survivor of childhood trauma. I also learned about vicarious trauma, and realized that I am currently in the middle of a situation where I am experiencing that. I am thankful that I took this course, so moving forward I can practice better self care. Thank you!

The organization of the course was intuitive and helpful. I'm glad that "staff" and self-care were included, and I'm glad that the presenter reiterated that children grow up to be adults in all kinds of settings, and many of them will have experienced trauma (treated and untreated).

The presenter was able to explain the complexities of trauma in children/parents in a way that one could understand without prior knowledge. I know that as a foster parent of many children with significant trauma from early years that understanding the basis for their trauma was essential in their healing. This course was very helpful in understanding many of my patients and being able to recognize behaviors which helps in planning their speech therapy sessions to be most impactful.

The information was powerful. It is so sad that children are exposed to such adult issues. Early in my career I had a four year old who was molested by her 16 year old brother and had to have surgery prior to beginning pre-school. It's been nearly 25 years ago...I never forgot her and often prayed for her. This information is essential to SLP work. We just do not know what children are going through at home.

I do my best to be a trauma-informed therapist, but I really never thought about how important it is for non-clinical staff to be trained in trauma awareness. I work in early intervention, and it would be beneficial for the referral coordinators to have training in this area, too, because they are the first point of contact for families. Many of our families have experienced NICU trauma, in addition to those discussed, and this type of training would be valuable for them, too.

This is such an important topic that many people still do not understand. So often I hear people brush off trauma and the serious effects of trauma as "everyone has problems!" Trainings such as these are so critical in getting people to move past such a simplistic and harmful apporach to people who have PSTD/CPTSD and to a position of actual care and helping. Thank you for such a thorough discussion of such an important topic.

This is an excellent course that helps you recognize signs of trauma in both children and adults, which is often not discussed. I learned about strategies social workers incorporate while working with children who have experienced trauma. I think understanding these strategies and collaborating with a social worker is very important, so that we as SLPs know how to address trauma behaviors if/when they occur during therapy sessions. Excellent course!

This class opened my eyes to my own trauma that I wasn't quite realizing I was holding onto, and how that might impact that way that I am doing therapy... hurt people, hurt people and being able to realize that and see the person from their perspective of hurt and trauma VS them attacking, just makes total sense to me. Also, teaching me ways to help regulate MYSELF when I am triggered, let alone a child, was dvery impactful. Thank you
