I strongly recommend this master class for any healthcare or education professional. Comprehensive descriptions of theory and practice, discussion of real life examples, and consideration that not all individuals will repsond to traumatic events identically made this an excellent resource.

With so much going on in the world, it is easy to forget that EVERYONE has some kind of baggage, and it is even easier to get lost in your own stressors and overlook those who mask their trauma so well. This course provided substantial strategies and information to be more mindful of the quiet ways trauma can affect children. The strategies provided to connect with them and address the environmental modifications that can be made were well described.

Nadia really knows her stuff. She confirmed many of the techniques that I used when counseling parents and children who have communication disorders. Surprisingly, many of my kids had experienced trauma in their lives and it interfered with their acquisition of language. Even if what I do does not address trauma directly, I would refer out to a licensed professional.

The course content was very informative and will positively impact my work as an SLP. I do feel like there was a gap in information related to trauma response. The instructor mentioned fight, flight, and freeze responses. "Fawning" was not mentioned at all. Many people with trauma, especially chronic or complex trauma and neglect, often "fawn" to keep the peace. They avoid conflict and may become "pleasers" who struggle to say "no" (which makes them vulnerable to more abuse and trauma).

The content of this course was outstanding and I think all professionals should have access to this information. The speaker was extremely passionate about the subject matter which made the course more interesting. I do wish that her presentation was more polished. There were frequent grammatical inaccuracies and her delivery was not polished. I do think those things distracted the listener/viewer from the speaker's message.

The course was very informative, and the presenter was clearly very knowledgeable. However, the four modules easily could have been combined into two, as the course became very repetitive overtime and, at times, did not give specifics to elaborate on the information. I found the end of the fourth module to be extremely helpful, as there were explicit strategies given that can be used in interventions.

The information presented in this course was informative and reassuring that the interventions that I often use with my students coincide with research. Many of my students have been impacted by trauma of various kinds. The interventions discussed are some of the strategies that I use to help my students self-regulate. I also feel that creating a safe environment for my students and building a positive and trusting relationship with my parents is beneficial for all.

The presenter was able to explain the complexities of trauma in children/parents in a way that one could understand without prior knowledge. I know that as a foster parent of many children with significant trauma from early years that understanding the basis for their trauma was essential in their healing. This course was very helpful in understanding many of my patients and being able to recognize behaviors which helps in planning their speech therapy sessions to be most impactful.

The information was powerful. It is so sad that children are exposed to such adult issues. Early in my career I had a four year old who was molested by her 16 year old brother and had to have surgery prior to beginning pre-school. It's been nearly 25 years ago...I never forgot her and often prayed for her. This information is essential to SLP work. We just do not know what children are going through at home.
