The presenter seemed knowledgable in the subject matter. However, due to the presenter's teaching style, it was difficult to maintain attention. She often read what was on the powerpoint instead of paraphrasing and adding in her own commentary. She would present interesting questions and then say that she would get back to it later. By the time she may have gotten back to it, I couldn't remember the question. Also, towards the end of the presentation she had a case study that she did not discuss

This was probably the best course I have completed in a long time. The topic thoroughly covered the SLP's role in conducting GOC discussions with patients and I feel much more confident in advocating for the patient's right to make an informed consent.

I evaluate and treat dysphagia every single day - it is one of my most favorite aspects of our field. It can be overwhelming and made to be "black and white" with regards to other medical professionals like physicians and this course definitely gave me great advice and education on who to have these conversations and document them in a straight forward manner. Thank you!

More enthusiasm from speakerthis brought up more questions than answers for me/the locations I currently work at - I get the concept, but think it certainly would be a team effort to implement, The comment "I hope, but I worry" - does not seem to reflect an effective supportive response, nor one including prognostic indicatorswould like to have additional information if these created smart phrases do hold up in court

The overall discussion of why discussions of diagnosis and various treatment can support the patient in making an informed decision decision about which approach can best benefit the patient. The provider shoukd always be aware of the ethical decison he or she may consider in allowing the patient to have autonomy about their care. Documenting conversations history, diagnosis, recommendationd. Sharing information with caregivers and patient.
