The section of most interest to me was the focus of the multi-factorial assessment that helps in establishing goals for stuttering treatment. Looking at the student's speech-language skills, the feelings of the student, and how the stuttering impacts quality of life were very important steps in goal setting.

I liked that this course focused on the patient as a whole and not just someone that stutters. It is important to understand the impact that stuttering has on a patient's life and not necessarily just pushing for fluency shaping techniques to eliminate the stutter.

I am already expecting some fluency evaluations in the next school year (and with teenagers/young adults), so this was a very helpful refresher from graduate school but with lots of extra new information that will benefit my upcoming assessment and treatments! The organization of the course made it very excellent. It flowed in a way that made sense, all of the slides were connected and easy to follow, and there were concrete examples of goal writing, treatment approaches and specific assessments

My favorite thing about the course was that she talked about collaboration with the client in developing goals to work on. I have a client right now that I've attempted to get more information from regarding how he feels about his stuttering, but he and his mom have both told me he's doing fine. I feel that the information in this course about collaboration, and one of the handouts that she showed with regard to goal setting, may be helpful for putting together a better treatment plan.
