The course was a good review of the basics of hearing loss and its effects on language development. I only wish more had been covered regarding the speech therapist's responsibilities specifically when working with children with hearing loss.

The presenter was passionate about making sure that children with hearing loss have adequate auditory access. She gave good examples of how this can best be done. This was an overview, but sometimes it seemed that the information was scattered. She did a great job of covering a lot without going too fast.

I loved this course! I felt as if I wanted to "High-five" Dr. Madell on nearly every point! Thank-you so much for offering such an excellent course!!! (I am a silver-haired speech-path who wishes every one I have worked with the the schools with regard to hearing could hear her speak....!) Thanks again! :)

Presenter was very knowledgeable and had so much to share. There was a LOT of info packed into that hour, without opportunity for questions or some more examples to provide a bit of brain break time to process better. Perhaps this could be extended into a 2-hour session even to provide for that. The info is so great!

I felt I needed a back to basic review of hearing and auditory loss and this course provided it. After reading other slp's reviews, I did take breaks during the presentation so I could maintain my own focus and attention to the slide reading format of the presentation. I do plan to complete Part 2 of the presentation as the information gained is well worth the time.

my caseload has increased with child who are suspected to have hearing loss as demonstrated by their behavior and inability to imitate high frequency consonant speech sounds. I know about the role of the audiologist. I was not familiar with a listening and spoken language specialist. I would have considered this about of my scope of practice, which I found eye opening.

The information in this course was a good overview/review. However, I found the presenter's verbal presentation style very irritating and distracting. Her NYC accent, combined with her stuttering/cluttering was distracting and annoying. Has she been Dx'ed with a speech fluency disorder? Often -- no, frequently -- she presented with up to three attempts before landing on the word or phrase she intended. Have other students commented on this? She should be made aware of this.
