I think in this age group, vocational skills, especially in a nonpublic setting are a large focus, but including leisure skills is another valuable functional skill that may be overlooked that is brought to attention. Using written modalities to self advocate is another great strategy.

I loved this podcast!!!! All of the strategies discussed were excellent and very applicable to working with teens in the upper grades. I found the discussion of being a team member within the transition planning process for our adolescent students with autism to be invaluable! I have several ideas of how I can use more vocational and leisure vocabulary to support the communication needs of my students, and how that can be addressed collaboratively. Overall, excellent list of strategies!!!
