This course validated the thinking that I have had as an SLP for over 20 years. I liked how the presenter broke down the HOW to implement the movements and the research that supports using this method.

I have taken many of Kelly's webinars, but this one was a key training I'd missed. I've seen Kelly use TOM-tx in many other trainings; I've even implemented it through mincing her examples, but I missed her explanation of what it is, why she uses it, and how to execute properly. This was tremendously helpful.

I appreciated the practical modeling of hand cues linked to oral-motor tasks for enhanced verbal production, as well as prompt to target complex sentence development which will naturally enhance grammatical morphemes and vocabulary. The example of targeting concept words (first, next, then, last(ly), because) is strategy to purposely include in my therapy sessions. I appreciated cue to say, "Look at", to enhance establishment of joint attention.

These are activities that I normally use in my therapy sessions. I tend to follow the lead of the student and intentionally provide play activities that includes their goals. Kelly gave me the EBP vocabulary that I can use to explain my "play" therapy sessions to my co-workers as well as parents. I really enjoy Kelly! I would love to attend one of her sessions in person.

The task oriented movement activity is a very specific type of activity that will structure the therapy sessions. She gave specific examples of these activities. I like how the presenter emphasized that movement in the body is conducive and necessary to speech/mouth movement that facilitates speech. This was a running theme throughout the course and hence, a good reminder/new philosophy that will guide my therapy more.

Ms. Vess did an amazing job as to explaining why there needs to be movement during therapy sessions. I do move, but not enough learning through Ms. Vess. Also, I will make sure that my children do more story telling as I have learned via this course that it has the greatest impact on language/comprehension.
