I liked how the course discussed that just because a chid has a diagnosis doesn't mean they'll get an IEP. I have seen this so many times where parents don't understand this and it's so difficult.

This course is amazing. I feel like it really represents how we should be looking at social skills in this day and age. In my opinion, this course sheds a lot of light on how we should be respecting and working with our students as individual communicators.

I love any presentation given by Angie because it’s so easy to listen to her and follow along. This is especially true for this topic which is always relevant in my career and there are so many un-answered questions. I look forward to part 2!

Unfortunately I was not a fan of this course and it does not surprise me that I did not do that well. This is the first time ever this has happened. I had much difficulty following along with this presenter. She spoke fast and with little confidence/knowledge to back up what she was saying. The flow was way off and I struggled after multiple tries. I will not be completing Part 2.

This course was excellent in explaining the differences in various terms we often use when discussing children with social, emotional, or behavioral problems. The exact terms we use and how we are evaluating them are very critical in regard to determining if there is enough evidence to support a disability. These terms and information relayed are important for all teachers and evaluators to know.

I work with many students with ASD and sometimes see students that actually do understand the social rules but choose not to follow them. I will be more proactive about asking why so that I can communicate to concerned adults that these behaviors are not always a lack of knowledge but might be serving a different function.

Relevant information. Angie is very upbeat and she moves the presentation along in a good way. However, her rate of speech is very fast for me. At times, I had to replay the presentation to make sure I heard what was stated. Because I was driving while taking the course, I was unable to view the handouts. I had to rely solely on what I heard.

1. The key speaker for one. Angie Neal has exceptional knowledge not only for an SLP but for all involved on an IEP team. The content was presented explicitly in detail so that there is a clear understanding of the role for an SLP to help others on the team to assess/observe for a child with the possibility of ASD vs a mild delay. These notes will help in an IEP meeting, talking with parents and team members.
