As an SLP that works nearly exclusively with this population, It was nice to see a deep dive into the topic. I particularly liked the discussion of assessment because more often than not, assessments are not inclusive of those with ASD.

Angie Neal explains in detail the elements required for assessments of students suspected of being on the Autism Spectrum. She provides in depth information and makes a case for what questions need to be asked when assessing a student suspected of Autism. The assessment team needs to be more aware of the context in which behaviors occur and to ask the student to explain what the behaviors mean to them and to what purpose the behaviors serve.

I usually love Angie's courses, but this one was a little more difficult to remain focused on. I'm not sure if it was due to the amount of information that seemed to drag on or because it was a lot of known information but I had to constantly redirect myself to pay attention. Despite this, I am looking forward to part II and what it may bring.
