I completely see how working in an isolated environment can lead to burn out. I have been in the profession for over 20 years, and wish that my school would accept this practice. I have a good relationship with my colleagues; however, I do agree that what we do is often less successful due to the fact that we work independently. This article really made me think of ways to encourage our building to work more as a team.

I have tried this model but found it works much better in theory than in practice. In practice, this model is not terribly productive. Collaboration with the teachers and incorporating classroom themes is far more practical and productive. Kids are embarrassed, especially Jr high and high school kids, when their SLP or sped teacher comes sits with them in class. As for testing in a group model, I have done that too and it takes way, way too much time.

Makes total sense to establish IPCP ( Interprofessional Collaborative practices as an SLP) after reading this article.
