As a provider, I have gained experience from counseling families. As a client, I have learned ways to allow others to guide me through my thoughts/feelings, especially as a parent of a child with a disorder. This has given me a deeper appreciation to both sides of the counseling coin. Thank you.

I was never trained, as an SLP in college, how to counsel the families of my students with communication disorders. After taking this course, I realize the importance of having counseling skills, to help the caregivers of my students cope with their feelings after a diagnosis that could be troubling for them to hear. This course was very informative and I learned a lot. I highly recommend this course.

I rated this course excellent because counseling is a topic that is never really talked about in our profession. It is a topic (counseling) that is never really taught to undergraduate or graduate students. Counseling is an important concept every therapist should learn when dealing with emotionally sensitive clients. The presenter also emphasized being empathetical towards clients, which in turn helps to build trust amongst client/therapist relationships.
