The 5 Step process is so beneficial because it helps narrow the range of error phonemes and increases my confidence in choosing the correct targets. The explanation of choosing enlarged targets, how to identify targets as maximal contrasts (versus minimal pairs)was eye opening. I have started complexity approach and wondered which approach should be utilized, and this answered my question! The 4 key parts of a treatment session will help me to restructure my own treatment sessions.

It gave steps to think about for assessment, picking targets and therapy session ideas. Will be able to start with this approach for a student during my next session (Over a year he is making minimal gains/no carryover with attempts of minimal contrast and targeting specific sounds). This was a nice overview Complexity Research- something I remember from school but don't typically use as a first approach with my younger students.

This is a new odea that I might try in therapy sessions. I was always trained to start with sounds that the child is stimulable for and work my up to the harder phonemes. This is a different approach and actually makes sense in many ways.
