This course was easy to follow. As a school based SLP, I have experienced an issue with a child who had seizures as a baby, which has manifested in memory, executive functioning, and auditory processing deficits, who lost her IEP during a mandatory re-eval because she did not have the mandated discrepancy between her IQ and scores, so she DNQ. They would not give her an OHI-seizure or TBI ruling, bc they did not understand that seizures are a TBI, which can cause long term deficits.

Dr. Ciccia's article was clear cut, presenting information that was understandable and applicable for the SLP on the frontlines in public schools. She used research but not an overload to encumber the brain with, "I'll never remember all this". She gave guidelines an SLP could follow in the busy schedule of school. She gave useful assessment information. She presented the important current return to school guidelines.
