Step 1. Contact Us
Contact Linda Schreiber at lschreiber@speechpathology.com to discuss your idea for an article. She will help you prepare your manuscript for peer-review and posting at the website and answer any questions you have.
Step 2. Prepare Your Manuscript
It’s easy to prepare your manuscript for publication. The guidelines for peer reviewed articles are these:
- Prepare your manuscript in Microsoft Word.
- Include figures, graphs, and illustrations within the single Word document.
- If you are using phonetic fonts, use Doulos SIL fonts, which you can download for free at the SIL website.
- All articles must include references and citations; our guideline is to use a minimum of five.
- You must hold copyright to the information you present in your article or provide the source of information via a citation. Secure permission to use word-for-word information over 100 words for which you do not hold copyright. If you need a permission form, contact us.
- Format your references and citations using the American Psychological Association (APA) style.
- Peer review follows the ASHA protocol so in addition to the article, the ASHA CEU form (which will be emailed to you) must be completed and returned. It requires a brief bio of each author, 10 multiple choice questions and answers for evaluation, and 3 learning outcomes. Submit the completed form when you submit your manuscript.
Step 3. Be Punctual
Your article is scheduled for publication based on a mutually agreed upon timeline. Once scheduled, it is important to honor the timeline you agree to.
Step 4. Reap the Rewards
SpeechPathology.com offers a $350 honorarium for articles that pass the peer-review process. We assume you will respond to reviewer comments in order to get approval from ASHA for the CEUs.
Add the published article to your vita or resume and reap the rewards of sharing your knowledge with colleagues.
